Nora - Coffee table in MORTEX®

Nora does not imitate stone. It is stone. Cast as a single solid block in MORTEX®, this coffee table is a mineral presence in your living space, not a piece of furniture dressed in a coating. It exists first and foremost as an object, a geological fact placed at the centre of a room.

One material, one intention

MORTEX® is a cement-based microcement applied by hand, layer by layer. It gives Nora its visual density, its subtle tonal shifts, that fine grain that reads differently in morning light than in the evening. Where standard polished concrete or microcement stops, Nora goes further: the horizontal top receives a copper metallisation, a process in which real metal particles are worked into the surface and then sealed under a resin layer. The result is a coffee table whose top carries a warm, mineral glow, nothing like gold paint, something far more alive.

Made by hand, made for you

Nora is produced to order in our atelier in Steenokkerzeel, Belgium. Every table is shaped by hand by our craftspeople: no two tops are exactly alike. The monolithic structure, the surface treatment, the resin finish, all of it is done in-house, with no outsourcing. That is what makes Artelior® a house of authored furniture rather than a production line.

Frequently asked questions

Le plateau en métallisation cuivre résiste-t-il aux taches, verres humides et rayures du quotidien ?
Yes. The copper metallisation is sealed beneath a transparent resin layer, which forms the actual contact surface. That resin provides solid protection against everyday stains, wet glasses and light scratches. We do recommend wiping up liquids promptly and avoiding strongly abrasive objects dragged across the surface. Using a coaster is a good habit to keep the finish looking its best over time.
Quelle charge maximale le plateau peut-il supporter, et la structure monobloc en MORTEX® est-elle sujette à la fissuration ?
Nora's monolithic structure is designed for standard coffee table use: books, decorative objects, drinks. It handles distributed loads of around 30 to 40 kg without issue. MORTEX® is a mineral plaster applied over a structural core, which gives it very good mechanical resistance. Surface micro-cracks can appear following a sharp, concentrated impact, but they are repairable by our workshop. Structural cracking is extremely rare under normal indoor use.
La table Nora peut-elle être utilisée en extérieur couvert (terrasse, loggia) ?
No. Nora is designed for indoor use only. Even in a covered outdoor setting such as a loggia or sheltered terrace, the significant fluctuations in humidity and temperature are incompatible with the long-term durability of both the MORTEX® and the resin finish. If you are looking for a coffee table for an outdoor space, please contact our workshop: we are happy to explore what solutions might work for your project.
Le MORTEX® du piètement nécessite-t-il un entretien spécifique différent du plateau résiné ?
Yes, the two surfaces call for a slightly different approach. The resin-protected top is easy to maintain with a lightly damp cloth and mild soap. The bare MORTEX® base benefits from an annual application of wax or black soap to nourish the surface and maintain its depth of colour. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaning products on both surfaces. A full care guide is included with every table that leaves our Belgian workshop.

Nora, a mineral block born in our Belgian workshop

Nora does not try to look like stone: she possesses its density, its silence, its raw presence. Cast in MORTEX® in our workshop in Steenokkerzeel, she is shaped as a single continuous block, without joint or artifice, until the material finds its own logic of volume. This custom coffee table asserts itself in an interior like a fragment of geological landscape, placed there with intention.

The top receives a copper metallisation, then a layer of resin that locks the gleam of the metal into the depth of the MORTEX®. This finish, developed through artisanal craftsmanship in our Belgian workshop, brings the surface to life differently depending on the light: at times muted and earthy, at times crossed by a warm reflection. Nora is not a decorative piece of furniture. It is an object inhabited by its own polished concrete.
